Couple have lucky escape as high winds blow tree onto house
One couple have had a lucky escape after a 20ft tree fell on their home during the stormy weather.
The tree crashed down at the front of their house in Worsley in Greater Manchester just after midnight, but the pair managed to get out safely.
Greater Manchester firefighters used a chainsaw to break the tree down and make the house safe - spending more than three hours on the scene.
Spokesman Simon Cording said: "The tree had landed on the front of the house, causing damage to the house and a car next door. The couple inside luckily got out safely.
"However, they were due to go on a family holiday today and sadly won't be able to as a result of the damage. They had a lucky escape - it could have been much worse."
