Buckley family to bring Karen home for burial on Tuesday
Karen Buckley will be laid to rest in Analeentha in Co Cork on Tuesday after the authorities in Scotland released her body back to the family.
The details were released last night by the Buckley family when her death notice was published.
It stated that Karen will lie in repose on Monday in O’Connell’s Funeral Home, St. James’ Avenue, Mallow from 4pm to 8pm. The removal will take place to Church of St. Michael the Archangel, Analeentha, close to the family home.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 2pm, with burial at St. John’s Cemetery, Burnfort.
The notice also contains this family message:
“Karen, beloved daughter of John and Marian and dear sister of Brendan, Kieran and Damien.
“Sadly missed by her heartbroken parents, brothers, grandmother, uncles, aunts, sister-in-law Niamh, cousins, relatives, neighbours and her many friends.
“May she rest in peace.”
It is expected that the family will travel home with Karen tomorrow on a flight from Glasgow.
Yesterday it had emerged that the release of the body was delayed after the prosecution requested a second post mortem in the case.
Alexander Pacteau, the man charged with Karen's murder, also appeared in court yesterday for a brief commital hearing. The 21-year-old entered no plea but he was remanded in custody to appear in court again at a later date.
