Flood victims fear this week’s forecasted big freeze will severely hamper clean-up efforts across the country.

Weather experts predict temperatures will plummet nationwide as the coldest weather this winter is set to hit Ireland.

Wintry showers, severe frost and icy roads will make life difficult for those in flood affected areas.

This week, the Sunday World travelled across the country to meet flood victims who are trying to rebuild their lives after the freak floods in some of the worst hit areas around south Galway and Athlone.

We exclusively joined Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin as he met with those affected in south Galway.
