Banks take hold of slum-like tenements owned by disgraced Garda

Shamed ex-garda Kevin Galvin’s cockroach-infested slum empire has been dealt a devastating blow after banks repossessed four of his tenements.

Today, the Sunday World takes you inside the slums dotted across Dublin, where, sometimes operating under the alias ‘John White’, Galvin has been collecting thousands of euro a week for the past six years.

We can reveal how, despite being jailed for housing tenants in a fire-trap in Cabra in 2010, Galvin has continued to cram dozens of people into tenement buildings.

This week, residents in two of his properties, 26 Benburb Street and 42 Phibsboro Road, invited the Sunday World inside their rented accommodation to witness first-hand the shocking conditions.
