Appeal for witnesses issued following alleged assault in Dublin

An appeal for witnesses has been issued following an alleged assault in Dublin city centre last night.

Gardaí were alerted after the discovery of an unconscious man by a member of the public on Dame Lane, Dublin 2 at about 11.30pm.

The man in his late 30s was found with serious head injuries, close to the entrance to a pub on Dame Lane.

Medical assistance was sought and the man was taken to St James' Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont, where he remains in a serious condition.

Anyone who was in the Dame Lane area on 25 June from 11pm to midnight is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on 01-666-9000.
