60km oil spill could see some motorists in for a long commute home
Motorists in and around Limerick city could be in for a long commute home this evening following a 60-kilometre oil spill in Limerick.
Warnings have been issued to drivers after the spill which trails from Abbeyfeale to Limerick City.
Limerick City and County Council have sent out a warning to motorists due to the extremely dangerous driving conditions.
A spokesperson for the city and county council said: “We are advising motorists to exercise caution due to a 60 kilometre long oil spill from Abbeyfeale in West Limerick to Limerick city.”
“The fire service is doing its best to make the road safe, but motorists should take caution as the spill stretches 60 kilometres.”
The spill is believed to have come from the back of a truck that was been driven west from Abbeyfeale.
