An M50 slipway was closed for over an hour this morning following a crash that occurred shortly after 9am.

The slip road from the M50 northbound onto the M1 Dublin/Belfast Rd was temporarily sealed off as a result of the incident.

It was reopened to commuter traffic at around 10am after the scene was cleared.

Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the scene and winched the crashed car from the side of the road.

There were no serious injuries reported as a result of the incident.

A DFB spokesperson urged motorists to take extra care on the wet roads as the rainy weather continues.

Met Eireann have forecast persistent and heavy rain in parts of the country today, becoming lighter towards this evening.

The weather for the rest of the week is set to remain unsettled with some scattered sunny spells throughout.
