Motorist caught by Gardai doing nearly 240 km/h
Gardai yesterday recorded a motorist doing nearly 240 km/h.
Officers on the M8 motorway in Cork clocked the driver travelling at approximately 147 miles per hour yesterday afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle was apprehended and brought to court, Gardai said. The incident occurred near Fermoy.

The tweet drew a lot of reaction on Twitter after Gardai posted the speedometer.
Some expressed outrage, "Absolute disgrace. He should have his licence taken off him and banned for a considerable amount of time! #speedkills."
Others were in a more conciliatory mood... One users wrote: "speed does NOT kill. If it did astronauts would be dead. So would every racing driver."
