A motorcyclist has been killed in Dublin city, Gardai have confirmed.

The collision occurred early this morning at North Wall Quay at the docklands.

A motorcyclist in his late 30s was critically injured when he was involved in a collision with a truck at approximately 7.30am.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Castleforbes Road but the man was fatally injured.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports suggest the man was apart of a small group of people travelling to Poland for a trip.

Several other touring motorbikes were parked at the scene.

The road has been closed off for a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
