Motorcyclist killed after fatal collision with cow in late-night tragedy

A 28-year-old man died late last night after a fatal collision with a cow in Co Meath.

Gardai in Navan are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Clarkes Cross, Navan last night.

The collision, involving a motorcyclist and a cow, happened at around 10.15pm on the Navan to Athboy road N51 (approximately two miles outside Navan).

The 28-year-old male motorcyclist was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at Navan Hospital. A post mortem is to be arranged.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place. It is expected the road will remain closed until lunchtime. 

Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
