A mother and her baby had a lucky escape when shots were fired at a caravan in a Dublin halting site.

The incident happened at the Cloverhill Road halting site in Dublin last night.

It is understood that up to six shots were fired while the mother and her child were sitting on a couch.

One of the shots hit the couch but both mother and baby escaped unhurt.

A young man who was also in the caravan was also unhurt in the incident.

Gardai are investigating incident.
