The preliminary results of the 2016 census have been released.

The initial results of the 2016 census were released today, with the biggest revelation from the national survey being that Ireland's population has grown to 4.76million, up from 4.58million in 2011.

According to cso.ie,the exact increase in population is 169,724, which works out as a 3.7 per cent increase.
