Mobster paedo made daring bid to escape custody in Dublin
PAEDO ex-mobster Stephen ‘Rossi’ Walsh made a ‘madcap’ dash for freedom on his arrival at the Courts of Criminal Justice on Friday – only to be tackled to the ground by gardaí at the car park perimeter.
The 69-year-old is understood to have been left on his own momentarily in the prison van with the door open.
Sources said Rossi would have escaped were it not for the intervention of a member of the Gardaí stationed near the exit gate.
During his court appearance Walsh was refused an enlargement of time to appeal convictions.
Walsh was given a 10-year sentence in 2010 for raping a nine-year-old girl over 20 years ago.
In 2010 a judge imposed a consecutive three-year sentence for indecently assaulting a seven-year-old girl in 1988, while in December 2011 Walsh received another consecutive 12-year sentence for sexual assault.
