Minted EuroMillions winner Dolores gets €8k crash compo
Ireland's biggest ever EuroMillions winner Dolores McNamara settled a court case yesterday for €8,401.
Today's Independent.ie reports on the case that was scheduled for Killaloe District Court yesterday.
McNamara, who scooped €115m in a 2005 EuroMillions draw, took the action against William Butler, of Ballyhea, Charleville, Cork, over a crash in which her Mercedes sustained "extensive material damage" on October 27, 2015 at Ballyloughnane, Ogonnelloe, Co Clare.
According to the report, the principle involved and a wish to have her position vindicated, rather than the money, was at the heart of the matter for McNamara.
As the case was about to be heard the court heard that there were discussions ongoing between the parties involved.
Shortly afterwards the legal team for Butler told the judge that "a compromise has been reached".
McNamara's solicitor David Scott said that an order in the amount of €8,401 could be made in favour of her, plus costs. There was no admission of liability.
