Midlands couple pick up Lotto cheque won with children’s ages
A Midlands couple were today planning a little holiday somewhere ‘with a private beach’ – after picking up a whopping cheque for €2,905,586 at the National Lottery offices today.
The cash windfall was their share of last Wednesday’s (June 10) jackpot. A couple from Dun Laoghaire picked up the other share in recent days and vowed ‘a spending splurge in Marks & Spencers’.
And the couple are more than a little happy with their slice of luck, it’s fair to say – and used the popular choice of family birthdays to pick their numbers.
“It’s great! Our numbers were made up from our children’s ages and a significant family event,” said the lucky husband as he quaffed champagne to toast their good fortune.
The couple switched to playing Lotto online in 2014 after “being fed up losing tickets and forgetting to check them”, he added.
Their other plans for their cash windfall involve looking after their family and having a great holiday “somewhere beautiful, like the Seychelles, India or the Maldives – anywhere with a private beach”.
The couple have opted to keep their identities private.
