Met Eireann issue two weather warnings
Met Eireann have issued a Status Orange weather warning for Co Cork, with between 40 – 70mm of rainfall expected.
The south coast and mountainous areas are to experience the heaviest showers.
A Status Yellow warning has also been issued for counties Kerry, Limerick Tipperary and Waterford, where between 25 – 50 mm of rain is expected.
The showers will begin this afternoon with sleet falling on some high ground.
Thundery spells are also expected.
The rainfall will die away early tonight and further wet weather will develop on the south coast at dawn.
Highest temperatures today are expected to be between 5-8 degrees while tonight will remain between -2 and +2 degrees.
Widespread frost and icy patches are also expected tonight.
