Suspected £280k cannabis haul in Derry

Police in Derry have seized suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of £280,000.

During the operation £10,400 in cash was also seized.

Two suspects aged 25 and 40 were arrested when a car was stopped on the Trench Road in Derry and a van was stopped on the Toomebridge Bypass.

Officers found the suspected cannabis in the car and the cash in the van.

The pair remain in police custody. The cash was found in the van 

Detective Inspector Tom McClure, from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch, said “We remain committed to making Northern Ireland a hostile environment for those individuals and groups who are involved in major drugs crime. 

“We will continue to work to identify them, disrupt their activities, arrest them and place them before the courts. We will also seek to ensure that they do not derive any material benefit from their illegal activities.”
