A commuter train has crashed into a rail station in New Jersey with authorities saying they fear it will lead to 'mass casualties'

Emergency crews are arriving on the scene in Hoboken.

Photos from the scene show a damaged New Jersey Transit rail car inside the station, surrounded by debris.

A police chief has told NBC New York there were "mass casualties."

Hoboken is located four miles outside New York City and it is a popular place for commuters to live.

The incident happened at the height of rush hour at around 8.45am local time.
