Manhunt underway after pedestrian struck by car during botched robbery

A manhunt is underway in north Dublin after a pedestrian was knocked down during the attempted robbery of a delivery man.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred at around 11am at Kilshane Cross, near Dublin Airport.

Sources say a van was making a delivery in the area when a man approached in a car and attempted to take something from the vehicle while the driver was away from it.

But the driver raised the alarm and the suspect is said to have got back into his car and drove away at speed.

However, a short distance away he knocked over a male pedestrian in his 40s before fleeing the scene.

He abandoned the car a short time later and ran into some nearby fields, and the Garda Air Support Unit was deployed to try to locate him along with ground searches.

The injured man was rushed to hospital with injuries described as being serious.

More to follow.
