Man tasered aboard Ireland bound easyJet flight
An easyJet passenger was tasered and “dragged off the plane” at Gatwick Airport following a row about luggage.
The incident occurred on flight EZY831, which had been due to leave for Belfast at 8.20am.
The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace.
EasyJet apologised for the disruption to other passengers in a statement on the departures page of its website, saying it had been because of 'offloading a passenger'.
"We wish to apologise for the further delay to your flight this morning," a spokesman said.
"We are currently replacing your crew and expect to be departing shortly."
A police spokesman told reporters: "A man is in police custody after being tasered on an aircraft waiting to depart from Gatwick Airport to Belfast on Thursday morning.
"Police officers were called to the EasyJet flight shortly after 8am to reports of a passenger who was becoming increasingly abusive following a dispute over luggage."
"A man has been arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace. The aircraft has been disembarked and police are taking statements from witnesses among the crew and passengers," the spokesman added.
