According to a report, a man was stopped at Dublin Airport security on Saturday after bullets were found in his luggage.

According to today's Irish Sun, the incident occurred on Saturday.

The live rounds were hidden inside a cigarette lighter and they were discovered after the suspect's luggage passed through an X-ray machine at security.

The man, from Lithuania, claimed they were simply souvenirs but authorities held him on suspicion of possession of ammunition.

The report quotes a source at the airport who claimed the bullets were 'ready for use and the lighter was used as an attempt to disguise them'.

According to the report it was one of the first times that ammo has been taken from passengers travelling through the airport.
