Gardai are appealing to the public for information on a man suspected of two separate sexual attacks on a female student.

Officers are hoping to identify man they say is responsible for the two attacks, which occurred within a three-day period.

Both incidents occurred at the playground on Cathedral Road in Cavan Town adjacent to Cavan Institute, according to Northern Radio

A member of An Garda Siochana told the station the attacks occurred on on the 15th and 18th of September.

Gardai said the first assault happened on the morning of 15 September, while the second happened on Friday afternoon close to the Con Smith Park.

The man is described as being in his early 50s, wearing a brown leather jacked and dirty jeans. He was around 5ft 8in in height, of skinny build with short fair hair.

"He spoke with a local accent," Sergeant Dick Bolger said.

"He was also described as having bloodshot eyes and smelled strongly of cigarettes," he added.

Anybody with information is asked to contact gardai at Cavan Garda Station.
