A man in his forties has been shot and injured in a shotgun incident in west Dublin this morning.

The incident happened shortly after 11.30am this morning at a car parts yard on Greenhills Road, Walkinstown in Dublin.

It is understood that the man who was injured in the incident was not the intended target.

It is believed he was a customer in the car parts yard.

A large number of garda units responded to the incident.

The man received a gunshot wound during the incident, according to gardai.

He has been taken to Tallaght Hospital were his condition is unknown at present.

The area has been sealed off.
