Man’s body recovered from the sea at the Cliffs of Moher

The body of a man in his 40s has been recovered following an operation involving Gardaí, the Coast Guard and the Shannon based Rescue 114 helicopter, off the coast of Co Clare this afternoon.

The man’s body was found in the water about a kilometre south of the main viewing platform and has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.

Gardaí are treating his death as a "personal tragedy".
