Man hospitalised following incident outside Leinster House

A man was hospitalised this afternoon following an incident which took place outside Leinster house.

The man, who is believed to be in his thirties, was found in a distress state outside the gates on Kildare Street.

Reports indicate that the man attempted to hang himself.

The emergency services were called and the man was rushed to hospital where he is being treated.

Onlookers raised the alarm

Independent TD Finian McGrath was one of a number of individuals who came to the man’s assistance.

“He appeared to be very much in pain. Hopefully he receives the treatment he needs,” Mr McGrath said.

In December 2014 the body of homeless man Jonathan Corrie was found metres from Leinster House.

His death was branded a national disgrace by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke.
