A worker on the night shift at a branch of Tesco was found dead inside a large, walk-in freezer by colleagues in the early hours of this morning.

According to the Mirror, the incident took place at a store in Thornbury, just north of Bristol in the south-west of England.

The worker, believed to be in his 50s, is thought to have collapsed in the frozen store.

His co-workers raised the alarm when he didn't come back and when they entered the freezer they found the man unconscious.

Emergency services were called but the man was declared dead at the scene.

A health and safety investigation is to be launched but it is reported that the man was not locked or trapped in the freezer at the time of his death.
