Man dies of head injuries on board fishing vessel
A man in his 50s has died from head injuries on board an Irish fishing vessel.
The incident occurred at around 8pm last night on the Endurance, a 23m trawler which fishes out of west Cork.
It is believed the man was an Egyptian national.
Four other crew members were on board and tried to tend to him but his injuries proved fatal.
It is not yet known how he suffered the head injuries.
The Endurance docked at Castletownbere in Cork at 2pm this afternoon to return the man’s body ashore.
Crew members on board coordinated with the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre based at Valentia in Co Kerry but he was declared dead a short time after.
