Man cut in half asks for organs to be donated while still alive

A man severed in two during a traffic accident asked for his organs to be donated while he was still conscious.

The heroic gesture was made by a man called Harish Nanjappa, who was involved in a road traffic accident in Nelamangala, India.

According to the Independent, Nanjappa was on his motorbike when he was hit by a truck as it tried to overtake him.

The collision was so violent it severed the man in two.

However, miraculously, Nanjappa remained conscious and was able to tells doctors to donate his organs before he died just minutes after arriving at the hospital.

Dr Bhujang Shetty told The Times of India: “We’ve collected Harish’s eyes as he was keen on donating his organs. It’s astounding how a man who was split in two and lying on the road was able to think with such clarity. It’s unheard of. He did not suffer head injuries because he was wearing a helmet.”
