Emergency services were called to the scene in north county Dublin last night after a man fell from a cliff.

He is being treated in hospital for severe head injuries after the fall, and his condition is said to be critical.

The incident took place on the coastline at Portrane just after 9.30pm and emergency services were alerted by a member of the public who called to say they had seen the man fall from a cliff.

Dublin Fire Brigade and the Irish Coast Guard both attended the scene and the man was winched into a helicopter.

He is being treated in Tallaght Hospital.
