Man caught strolling around Galway, nude from the waist down
A man who was spotted ambling around Galway, nude from the waist down, at 2:05am on the 18th of December last year has appeared in court.
Lithuanian Edgar Mackevic of Ballybrit, Galway, admitted breaching the peace on the night in question.
Galway District Court head that a group of students contacted gardai after they spotted Mackevic get out of his car naked from the waist down.
By the time officers arrived he had left the scene.
The students again contacted the gardai when then partially naked man returned and began strolling around.
When asked by Judge Mary Fahy for an explanation, solicitor John Martin, defending, said his client could offer none for his behaviour on the night.
The judge asked a second time, saying “Well, can we have any explanation at all?”
To which Mr Martin said Macevic had spoken to a GP following the incident and was referred for a counselling session, reports the Irish Daily Mail.
“This was a naked man, on December 18, a cold winter’s night and he is out oin the street nakend from the waist down,” the judge said.
“What is his explanation for this?
“My suspicion is that he was somewhere and was thrown out in this area without his trousers or underwear,” she added.
Mr Martin said that Mackevic had driven to the area in that state of undress.
Judge Fahy adjourned sentence.
