A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run which occurred three years ago.

Gardai in Kerry investigating the hit-and-run death of a cyclist in Kerry arrested the man early this morning. 

The collision occurred between the hours of 8am and 10am on Sunday, 1 July, 2012, in the townland of Scrahanfadda, Gneeveguilla.

A male cyclist, Paudie O’Leary, was killed when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle which failed to remain at the scene. 

Officers investigating the death arrested a 70-year-old man. He is being detained at Bandon Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 - Criminal Justice Act 1984. 

Investigations are continuing, Gardai said.
