Man arrested following discovery of body in South Dublin city house
A 67-year-old man has been arrested after the body of a 59-year-old male was found at a house in Rathmines, South Dublin city, last night.
Gardai in Rathmines have arrested a man following the discovery of another male deceased at his house in Summerville Park, Rathmines.
The man's body was found last night, with gardai now conducting a murder investigation regarding the incident.
At approximately 11.30pm last night, gardai in Rathmines received a call that an incident had occurred at a house in Summerville Park, Rathmines.
Both gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene, where they discovered an unresponsive 59-year-old male.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body remained at the scene, where it was preserved overnight.
State pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy attended the scene this morning and later carried out a post-mortem on the body at the City Morgue, Marino, Dublin 3.
A 67-year-old male was arrested this morning in Dublin in connection with the incident.
He is currently being detained at Rathmines garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
