Man arrested for dangerous driving as motorcyclist airlifted to hospital in serious condition

Gardai are investigating a serious road collision which left a motorcyclist in his 40s in serious condition.

Officers in Navan arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving after the collision yesterday evening. 

The incident occurred on the Cavan By-pass at approximately 5pm. 

A 44-year-old male motorcyclist was seriously injured when he was involved in a collision with a car at the above location. 

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin following the collision. 

The 24-year-old male driver of the car was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving. He is currently detained at Cavan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act 1984.

No other persons were injured.
