Gardai have arrested a man in his 20s after a large number of cannabis plants were found in a house in Bruff.

As part of an ongoing operation targeting drug distribution in Limerick and Clare, Gardai have discovered a large number of cannabis plants in a house in Athlacca, Bruff, Co Limerick.

Gardai carried out a planned search of a house there yesterday afternoon and during the search cannabis plants were discovered with an estimated street value of up to €115,000.

A male in his early 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Bruff Garda Station.

He can be held by Gardai for questioning without charge for a period of seven days.
