One Irish couple have just won a large Lotto prize for an incredible NINTH time.

Champagne corks were popping yesterday after one lucky married couple from Dublin collected their winning cheque of €113,661 after they matched five numbers and the bonus in Saturday's Lotto draw.

It is the ninth time the couple have matched five or more numbers in the Lotto.

"We are getting closer and closer to the jackpot. Since the start of the lotto, we have matched 5 numbers nine times and we’re not giving up on the jackpot just yet," the husband said.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, are lifetime Lotto players. They bought their lucky ticket at Eason Newsagents on O’Connell Street in Dublin City Centre.

"We were out having a drink on Saturday night and we checked our ticket on the National Lottery App," he continued.

"When we saw the message to contact the National Lottery, we were absolutely delighted.

"This is definitely the biggest prize we have won so far. The Lotto prizes have gotten bigger in general over the years when you consider that the first time we matched 5 numbers we won a hundred pounds.

"We are certain that we will be back to the National Lottery offices in the next few months to claim an even bigger cheque."

The couple said they will take some "time out" to let the win sink in first before they decide what to do with the money, but they said they have a few local charities they'd like to help. They also want to work with a children's charity in Africa.

There were two winners of the Match 5 + Bonus prize in the main Lotto draw, each claiming the €113,661 prize.

The other winning ticket was sold at the Newcastlewest Service Station in Newcastlewest, Co. Limerick.
