Lotto winners' plan: 'Straight to the bank to pay off our mortgage'
A couple who scooped a huge Lotto jackpot have revealed that the first order of business is to clear their mortgage.
The husband and wife, who chose to remain anonymous, were at National Lottery HQ to collect the €500,000 they won after scooping the top prize on the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday, November 11.
The lucky couple bought the winning ticket at the Garlow Cross Shop in Navan, Co. Meath.
And they plan to mix a bit of pleasure and practicality with their windfall.
‘I’m going to bring him up to do some of my Christmas shopping in Brown Thomas as soon as we lodge the cheque,’ said the winning wife.
However, there was another big thing on the wishlist too.
‘We’re going straight to the bank to pay off our mortgage,' said the couple. 'We have two young children so we will be putting money aside for them. We will take some time away and enjoy the win with the whole family,’ they added.
