Local residents left in the dark after fire at ESB substation

Local residents have been left without power for more than 24 hours following a fire at an ESB substation.

Dublin Fire Brigade attended a fire at the Ballyfermot substation on Blackditch Road at approximately 6.30pm yesterday evening.

Two pumps attended the scene for almost two hours and efforts were made to restore power in the area.

ESB have apologised to customers and estimate that residents will have power again at approximately 8pm this evening.

"We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible," they wrote online.

Approximately 382 customers are affected by the blackout, which is located to the west of Fanu Park in Ballyfermot.

AA Roadwatch have warned motorists that traffic lights on the Ballyfermot Road/Blackditch Drive are out of action as a result.

ESB customers can stay updated with the power status here.
