A major fire has destroyed a row of houses in Kildare

Emergency services are at the scene of a major fire that has destroyed several house in Newbridge in County Kildare.

A row of around half a dozen houses in the  Curragh Grange area of the Millfield Estate have been either fully or partially destroyed.

The area has been cordoned off and emergency services are battling to get the blaze under control. 

It is unknown whether anybody has been injured in the fire.

A large number of fire engines, ambulances and Gardai are currently at the scene. 

Images from the scene show the fire has almost subsided. 

KFM Radio are reporting that nobody has been injured in the fire.

The fire began at approximately 5.30pm this evening.
