Late Late Show’s new set cost €122,000

RTE spent over €122,000 on a new set for the Late Late show.

The set, which was unveiled by Ryan Tubridy earlier in the year, is the third new set for the Late Late since 2007.

In total, RTE have spent a whopping €409,574 on new sets for the talk show in the past eight years.

Strangely, RTE refused to release the cost of Tubs' chair or the new couch for guests, deeming this to be ‘commercially sensitive information’ under the Freedom of Information Act.

The Star reports that the figure of €122,808 doesn’t take into account the RTE labour costs such as design time or a dry run of the set.

Channel Controller for RTE One told reporters:

“The average lifespan of a set in television is usually no more than four years and this is the first new Late Late Show since 2009 when Ryan Tubridy took over as presenter.”
