Three men have been arrested following the discovery of a large quantity of heroin by Gardai in Kildare last night.

The three men, aged 40, 34 and 22, were arrested when two cars were stopped and searched at Newlands Cross at approximately 7.30pm yesterday evening.
 
A large quantity of  heroin (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of €600,000 was seized and the men were arrested for drug trafficking offences and currently remain in custody at Clondalkin Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.
 
A number of follow up searches were conducted in the Kildare and Dublin areas resulting in quantities of cocaine and cannabis herb (both pending analysis) also being recovered.  

At this time, controlled drugs with an estimated street value of €900,000 have been seized in this operation.

Investigations are ongoing.
