A man has been arrested after a large amount of cocaine was seized from his baggage at Dublin Airport.

As a result of a number of separate, intelligence-led operations Revenue seized 5.7kgs of cocaine, €10,120 in cash and over 41,000 cigarettes at the country's popular airport.

On Sunday afternoon, Revenue officers, with the assistance of detection dog Scooby, seized the cocaine from a 48-year-old Italian male who had arrived in on a flight from Dubai.

The drugs, estimated to be worth approximately €400,000, were discovered concealed in his baggage. He was arrested by An Garda Siochána and is due to appear in court later today.

In a separate operation, officers on Saturday seized over 41,000 cigarettes with a retail value  of €20,600 when they stopped and searched the luggage of two Polish males who had arrived in on a flight from Warsaw, Poland.

On Friday, officers detained €10,120 in cash from a Polish male in his thirties travelling from Poland.

They detained the cash in accordance with the proceeds of crime legislation, and Judge Coughlan granted a three month detention order at Dublin District Court to facilitate further investigations.
