Irishman hospitalised after attack in Bulgaria
A 21-year-old Irishman is in intensive care after being savagely attacked on holiday in Bulgaria.
The man was assaulted in a nightclub in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that they are providing consular assistance to the man’s family.
A spokesperson from Club Viking in Sunny Beach said they were aware of the situation, Irish Daily Star reports.
"The incident happened between a tourist and another who we do not know," they said.
"...it was our security that took the tourist to the ambulance to get immediate aid.
"After helping the police in their investigations by supplying CCTV footage we also know that a culprit has been arrested."
It is believed that the man suffered a fractured skull.
He was rushed to nearby Burgas Hospital where he remains critical in the intensive care unit.
