Irishman found dead in UK hotel
AN Irishman was found dead in a hotel in the UK this week.
The man, believed to be from Cavan, was found dead at the Elmhurst Hotel near Reading on Wednesday.
It is understood that the man, who is in his 40s, was working in the UK.
Two men, aged 28 and 38, were arrested in Reading but they were released this evening without charge.
A post mortem examination has been held and returned as inconclusive, in a case that was first considered a murder investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Brown, of Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: "As a result of the post mortem and the enquiries to date we are no longer treating this as a murder investigation, unless any new evidence comes to light."
Officers were called just before 10am on Wednesday morning following reports of a man being assaulted.
Guests at the hotel were evacuated and forensic investigators have combed the scene.
It is believed that gardai have been in contact with their colleagues in the UK and have informed the deceased mans family.
