Irishman found dead in New Zealand harbour
A 39-year-old Irishman has been found dead in New Zealand, police say.
Finbarr Clabby, who is from Galway, was found in Wellington Harbour near Queen’s Wharf in the early hours of yesterday morning. The Maritime Police unit recovered his body.
Mr Clabby, who had last been seen after midnight on Saturday night, had gone to Wellington Westpac stadium to watch a rugby final.
Police do not suspect foul play but a post mortem is due to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
New Zealand police have informed Mr Clabby’s family and funeral arrangements are being made.
"This appears to have been an unfortunate accident after Mr Clabby had been out socialising with friends on Saturday night," says Sergeant Shaun Lingard.
