Irish men arrested with hitman 'have links to Kinahan cartel'

The two Irish men arrested in a garda operation that also saw a foreign national hitman arrested are reported to have links to the Kinahan cartel.

The Dublin-based pair, aged in their 30s and 50s, were arrested this morning after a raid in Huntstown shortly after 11am.

Independent.ie are reporting that the duo have links with the Kinahan cartel.

The younger man is being questioned in relation to the drugs seizure while the older man is being held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Both he, and the foreign national, can be held for up to seven days.

The wanted criminal, nicknamed 'The Butcher', is also being held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

He has been linked to crimes in several countries.

He had only recently arrived in the country and is not suspected of being involved in any previous attacks linked to the Kinahan gang.
