There has been another incident involving an inmate climbing onto the roof of an Irish prison to retrieve drugs today.

Earlier this month a prisoner in Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison caused a major security alert after he climbed onto the roof and spent almost six hours there after collecting drugs that were thrown up on to security netting.

He was reported to be in a “highly intoxicated state” when he came down.

And today it has been confirmed that an inmate at Cloverhill prison spent two hours on the roof after climbing up to retrieve drugs that were thrown there.

It is not known what state he was in after his unscheduled break on the roof.

The incident occurred at around 6pm this evening, and an investigation is ongoing into how he managed to climb up.
