In pictures: Prestigious Wicklow hotel voted as AA Hotel of the Year
Wicklow's Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa has been named as the AA's Hotel of the Year.
The prestigious hotel was yesterday awarded the accolade by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD.
The AA Inspectorate, who personally visit every hotel accredited by the organisation, singled out Powerscourt's "superb standards" and the way in which it had become an integral part of the local community.
"It is a five-star hotel that also manages to be an intimate and friendly place for the people of the area who have rightly become very proud of it," the AA said.
Anybody who has ever stayed at the hotel can attest to the grandeur of the grounds and the building itself.
And the hotel has a series of images posted on their various social media pages which illustrate Powerscourt's splendour.
“It is an old hotel and a new one,” said AA Director of Consumer Affairs Conor Faughnan.
“Old in that the location has been globally renowned for many years, and new in that custody passed to a fantastic new team not even two years ago.
"In that time they have made huge strides.”
RG @engagedmagazine: I am very particular about hotels. Some people say 'You don't spend your time in your hotel' but I disagree. Where I stay is part of my vacation experience; furthermore, the Engaged! magazine reader is the luxury market for destination weddings and honeymoons so we are discriminating about the venues we endorse. High on the list of favs is @powerscourtHtl in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Gorgeous venue, amazing staff, killer views, with lots of activities - truly an experience! #destinationweddings #honeymoon #engagedmagazine #regramapp
