Image of defiant women kissing in front of 'No' voter going viral
As the marriage equality referendum nears, an image of two women defiantly kissing in front of a 'No' voter has gone viral on social media.
On May 22, voters will make history by holding the world's first referendum on legalising same-sex marriage - right here in our Emerald Isle.
The big day is nearing and, according to opinion polls, the country is still largely divided on the issue.
With the referendum hanging in the balance, the 'Yes' side will certainly be rejoicing after the following image went viral on social media.
Captured by photographer James Delaney outside Trinity College, the image captures the moment two women kiss in front of a placard-wielding 'No' voter.
Speaking to Huffington Post, Delaney said: “All of the Yes campaigners seemed to be overpowering this man’s lone No campaign.
“I don't think many people saw the girls kiss as there was quite a large crowd, but the few that did began to cheer as if something great had happened.
“I knew it was a good photo, but I didn't realize until I got home and saw the picture on a larger scale. The man’s reaction was what made the photo, I think.”
It has been received positively on Twitter and has been shared hundreds of times already.
