Hundreds of cannabis plants seized by gardai

A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of hundreds of cannabis plants.

The raid was executed at a premises in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary yesterday. 

As part of an ongoing operation by the Tipperary Divisional unit and Gardai from Nenagh and Roscrea Crime Units a house at Tulaskeagh Drive was searched.

During the course of the search Gardai discovered 400 cannabis plants with an approximate street value of €320,000, subject to analysis. 

A male was arrested and is being detained at Nenagh Garda station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

"These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks," garda said.

"Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
