The name of the homeless man who was found dead in Dublin city centre on Friday morning as been released.

Alan Murphy, who was in his mid 30s, died while sleeping rough on Dawson Lane.

His body was discovered at around 7am on Friday morning. Gardai say they are not treating his death as suspicious.

He was known by other homeless people in the area and the CEO of the Peter McVerry Trust, Pat Doyle, said they had known of him since last December.

The scene of the tragedy is just a few hundred yards from where Jonathan Corrie passed away last December  – an incident which caused outcry and sustained calls for the Government to do something to resolve the homelessness crisis.
